A few weeks ago I saw a pre-sale for an autographed book by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on Barnes & Noble's website. I figured getting Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's autograph and his book for just the price of the book was well worth it!

Another autograph for my collection that's not sports related, but today I received an autographed book insert that I bought on eBay of one of my favorite actresses, Myrna Loy (1905-1993):

Wayne Gretzky IP

Word got out earlier this week that Wayne Gretzky would be attending his son Trevor's opening home game for the Québec Capitales, so I saw this as the perfect opportunity to try and get The Great One's autograph in person for the first time!

Mr. Gretzky arrived a few minutes before game time and I was able to get this card signed while he was walking from his limo to the entrance of the stadium:

Between innings, Mr. Gretzky occasionally signed for fans that were waiting in line behind the section he was sitting in. I got in line once and he signed this other card for me (with someone else's dying Sharpie, but still!):

Mr. Gretzky (and his wife!) ended up signing A LOT of autographs tonight, so I guess his plan to see his son play while flying under the radar himself didn't work, but at least there was a lot of security (provided by the team) to ensure that he wouldn't be disturbed when he wanted to concentrate on the game.
